Pampa ISD COVID-19 Update #23

Good Thursday Evening Pampa Families,

With the Easter holiday upon us, I am reminded of how the sacrifices of individuals provide hope and inspiration for so many.  I have seen and heard of wonderful stories from all over our community, state, nation, and the world during this uncertain time that exemplify the compassion and perseverance that we value greatly as a people.  Our philosophy in Pampa ISD has been one of grace and connections.  There are so many things that we have done for which I am proud.  However, the thing that makes me most proud is the manner in which our people have responded to this pandemic. Today was Thankful Thursday for our @HomeLearning show-n-tell event. I am thankful for the many Pampa citizens, parents, community members, business owners, churches, and civic leaders who have made sacrifices and difficult decisions during this time so that we can be safe and still continue with the essential daily operations in our lives.

Although there are no new updates from the Governor, we do have some important information to share with you tonight and are asking for your help and feedback as well.

School Calendar Update:  April 13-14 (Monday and Tuesday) Student Holidays

As was planned in our original school calendar, Monday and Tuesday of next week are student holidays.  Therefore, when you see the @HomeLearning plans for the week of April 13-17 you will notice that the work is “lighter” because it is only a 3-day school week for our students.  We are so thankful for your support and your willingness to step up and engage in @HomeLearning; however, we also know that everyone needs some time to relax and unplug as well.  Please take this time to step away from the @HomeLearning and just recharge, reconnect with your family, and relax.

Our teachers will have a holiday on Monday and will engage in professional development and general school planning on Tuesday.  They will not be conducting digital/remote office hours on either of these days.

Technology and Meal Services

Monday is a Holiday for our staff.  They have worked tirelessly to launch our instructional, meal, and technology services and we want to honor that by continuing with our planned staff holiday.  Our meal services will continue on Tuesday from 10:30-12:30 and our technology services will continue on Wednesday from 5-6pm.  Thank you for your support of our staff and your patience as we allow them time to relax and recharge.

We need your feedback!

We want to know what is working for you and your family and how we can improve our meal, technology, and PISD@HomeLearning systems.  Please take just a few minutes and let us know your thoughts, ideas, suggestions, and questions.  Please click on the appropriate link below to take the survey.  It should only take about 5-10 minutes.  The student or the parent can complete the survey.  Our goal is to get feedback for each student in our district.  Thank you in advance for your patience and support as we continue to improve our services to our students and families.

2020 Census | You Count!

Please take a few minutes to complete your census.  Data from the 2020 Census are used to ensure public services and funding for schools, hospitals, and fire departments.  This data also is used to determine how many seats our state is allocated in the House of Representatives.  You Count!  Please complete your census.  For more information, see https://2020census.gov/

On behalf of the Pampa ISD staff, we wish you and yours a wonderful Easter weekend full of peace and blessings.

Dr. Tanya Larkin, Superintendent
