Pampa High School Memorial Project

This week, so many people took the opportunity to remember and show respect for the hundreds of thousands of men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.  The Memorial Day events serve as a constant reminder to past, present, and future generations of Americans how important it is to understand the sacrifice and dedication to serve in the Armed Forces.  I, like many of you, have family who has served in various capacities in the military.  I have a great sense of pride in remembering my family members and hearing of their acts of selfless service and courage.

Over the past school year, a committee of citizens, staff, and students led by School Board Trustee, Luis Nava, has been researching and designing a Veterans Memorial for Pampa High School students who have served in the military and made the ultimate sacrifice.  The committee created a vision for a memorial that would stand as a constant reminder to all who enter Pampa High School of the courage and commitment of the soldiers on the wall.  The memorial will be placed in the Rotunda area on the PHS campus.  The School Board has approved the design and has given the administration the green light to solicit donations to build the Memorial.  The estimated cost for the project is around $3500-4000.   Work on the memorial will not begin until all funds have been acquired.  Our goal is to have enough funds to get the memorial completed by Memorial Day, 2019!  If you are interested in helping this vision become a reality, please send donations to the Pampa Education Foundation, P.O. Box 1045, Pampa Texas 79065-1045.

We thank you in advance for your support in helping the students of Pampa High School know, understand, and remember those who served and died for the freedoms, rights, and privileges we all enjoy today!  If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 669-4700.
