Two Pampa ISD Campuses receive Distinctions from TEA

Posted Date: 05/11/2021

Lamar Elementary and Travis Elementary schools received accolades for student success from the Texas Education Agency. These honors are called "Distinctions" that recognize the campuses for exemplary success in various areas of the accountability system. Every campus in the state of Texas has been grouped with 40 schools that are most like them in enrollment, demographics, and other criteria. This is called an accountability cohort and is used to measure how well a campus is doing above and beyond the basic standards.

Lamar Elementary received TWO Distinctions. One in Index 2: Student Progress. The campus was in the top ten schools in their cohort group. This is quite an accomplishment for any campus in that it requires that all students make at least a year's growth in all content areas tests. The other area was in Index 1 in Mathematics. Again, Lamar students performed in the top ten schools in the cohort group.

Travis Elementary received one Distinction. They are celebrating success in Index 2: Student Progress as well. Travis students performed in the top ten schools in their cohort group. All of our campuses have focused their work on instruction and interventions that provide students with engaging learning experiences that are relevant to their goals and ensures that they are equipped to not only be successful in school, but to transfer those skills to college/career success. This type of success comes from dedicated teachers, hardworking students, and engaged parents. We are excited to see the continued success at these and other campuses in Pampa ISD.
