Hello Pampa ISD families, After closely monitoring the weather and consulting updated forecasts, we have determined that snow and ice will continue overnight, creating hazardous travel conditions for Friday morning. To prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and families, Pampa ISD will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 10th. We understand that school closures can disrupt family schedules, and this decision was not made lightly. However, we believe this is the safest course of action. Please stay safe during these winter conditions. We will provide updates through our usual communication channels if there are further impacts to school schedules. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Enjoy the snow day! Pampa ISD Administration

snow Day
The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. Our administration has been closely monitoring the weather since yesterday evening. At that time, forecasts indicated only a slight possibility of snow, and we made the decision to proceed with a regular school day based on the best information available. However, as the day has progressed, weather conditions have changed more rapidly than anticipated, and snow accumulation is now affecting travel in our area. Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to implement an early release today, January 9th. Elementary campuses will release at 12:00 p.m. and Pampa Junior High and Pampa High School will release at 12:40 pm. Please be assured that buses will operate on their adjusted schedules to transport students home safely. We will continue to monitor the weather throughout the day and evening and provide an update this evening by 8:00 PM with our plans for school tomorrow. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we work to respond to these evolving conditions. Thank you for your cooperation and continued support. Pampa ISD Administration

Reminder! January 20th is a student holiday and a staff professional development day. An old calendar showing January 13th as a student holiday has resurfaced, but it is not correct. Calendars were updated last school year to reflect the January 20th holiday. Please disregard the old calendar and mark your calendars for January 20th as the correct STUDENT HOLIDAY.

Important Eclipse Viewing Information: Monday, April 8th brings an exciting opportunity for our students, staff, and parents to witness the solar eclipse. We want to remind you about important precautions that need to be taken to view the eclipse safely. NASA provides important information about protective eyewear: "When watching a partial or annular solar eclipse directly with your eyes, you must look through safe solar viewing glasses (“eclipse glasses”) or a safe handheld solar viewer at all times. Eclipse glasses are NOT regular sunglasses; regular sunglasses, no matter how dark, are not safe for viewing the Sun. Safe solar viewers are thousands of times darker and ought to comply with the ISO 12312-2 international standard. NASA does not approve any particular brand of solar viewers. Always inspect your eclipse glasses or handheld viewer before use; if torn, scratched, or otherwise damaged, discard the device. Always supervise children using solar viewers. Do NOT look at the Sun through a camera lens, telescope, binoculars, or any other optical device while wearing eclipse glasses or using a handheld solar viewer — the concentrated solar rays will burn through the filter and cause serious eye injury. If you don’t have eclipse glasses or a handheld solar viewer, you can use an indirect viewing method, which does not involve looking directly at the Sun. One way is to use a pinhole projector, which has a small opening (for example, a hole punched in an index card) and projects an image of the Sun onto a nearby surface. With the Sun at your back, you can then safely view the projected image. Do NOT look at the Sun through the pinhole! You can read the complete article here. We look forward to this exciting learning experience for our students and will make every effort to follow all safety precautions.
