Pampa ISD COVID Update #18-April 2, 2020

Good evening Pampa ISD Students and Families,

We hope this email finds you all healthy and safe in your homes!  Once again, thanks for sharing your posts with us on social media.  It feeds our soul when we get to see your smiling faces!  Tomorrow is our School Spirit Day--- show off your campus pride and remember to tag us and use #’s #mynewlearningspace, #staywellTEXAS, and #PISD@HomeLearning.

Friday - School Spirit Day

I have had some of our parents and community members email me and ask about how the meals and distribution centers are going.  I thought I would share some facts with you:

MEALS

So far, (not including today) Pampa ISD staff have distributed 6,318 meals in a total of 20 hours.  That is an average of 316 meals an hour!  In addition, they have done this with grace and a servant’s heart!  WOW!  That is amazing!

TECHNOLOGY

We will also change our technology service days and times as well to limit exposure risks.  Beginning Monday, April 6th, the technology staff will be available on the west side of the Administration building at 1233 N Hobart at the following times:

As of Wednesday, March 31, our staff have distributed 1,940 devices (iPads and Chromebooks) to our students in a total of 14 hours.  That is an average of 139 devices an hour!  Whew!  That is a bunch of technology in a very short amount of time.  Our technicians are eager to help you and are available through email at support@pampaisd.net or you can call 669-4700.

We have also been hearing from parents who originally felt that their children could share their home computer but have since decided that each child needs a device.  That is perfectly fine.  You can check out a device at any time during our technology service hours.  Beginning next week, those will be open at the Administration building at 1233 N Hobart at the following times below.  Please pull around the west side of the building and STAY IN YOUR CAR.  A technician will come out to you.

Mondays 9:00-10:00am

Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm

Fridays 12:00-1:00pm

How is it going out there?

We know that everyone is dealing with so many changes right now.  It is easy to become overwhelmed with the circumstances and the reality of this unprecedented time in our community, our state, our nation, and our world.  We understand that digging into PISD@HomeLearning can be a little scary.  Please know that our PRIMARY concern right now is for the well-being of you and your family.  If things are going great for you---that is wonderful.  If things are a real struggle, give yourself some grace. We mostly just want to connect with you and your students right now.  We care about you!

Please feel free to reach out to the teachers and your campus principal to communicate with us.  We also realize that every home is different and some of our parents are trying to work full time and keep their children healthy and engaged in learning.  This will look and feel different in every home.  We are here for you and we understand that this is a process and it is OK right now to just breathe. J  Please do not let any of this add more stress to your home.  Please email us at pampaisdinfo@pampaisd.net or call us at 669-4700 if you are having any issues at all.

I have been so impressed by how our community has come even closer “together” during this time while remaining “apart”.  We will get through this and some day soon we will gather together as a Pampa Community and celebrate our local heroes and our victory over this horrible virus.  Until then, stay strong, stay home, stay well, and stay connected with us @PampaISD!
