Pampa ISD COVID Update #16-March 31, 2020

Good evening Pampa ISD Students and Families,

Thank you all for your participation and support of our Virtual Fire Drill as we remind everyone to show our appreciation for our healthcare workers and first responders.  Our community is blessed with many brave men and women who are working on the frontlines of this war on COVID-19.  Our prayers are with them and their families.

You may already know this, but today during a press conference, Gov. Abbott extended all school closures until April 30th and are not to reopen until May 4th.  We are saddened to hear this news, but we understand that we must all continue to be diligent in our efforts to “flatten the curve” and “slow the spread” of this virus.

So what does this mean?

We are here for you! We plan to continue with meal distributions, instructional and technology services, and online learning platform supports.  Our instructional leaders are attending webinars daily in order to assist our teachers in expanding and improving the PISD@Home Learning site.  Please continue to visit our website and your campus Facebook pages for the most up-to-date information and news.  If you have questions, please email us at pampaisdinfo@pampaisd.net or give us a call at 669-4700 between 9am and 1pm Monday-Friday!

Also, all banquets, competitions, gatherings, and events will either be canceled or postponed until after the May 4th deadline.  Our facilities remain closed!  We will re-evaluate the conditions in our city, county, and state and will make decisions about events such as graduation and prom at that time.  We know this is disappointing and frustrating.  Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all do our best to remain compliant with the Governor’s executive order.

STAY WELL TEXAS!

The Texas Education Agency in cooperation with Gov. Abbott’s office have developed a wonderfully informative website and campaign with resources and guides on COVID-19 for all students, parents, families, and community members in our great state!  You can view the information by clicking HERE.  Let’s all keep doing our part to help Texas STAY WELL!

Spirit Week Continues

Thank you again for sharing your posts, videos, and pictures with us.  We love seeing our students’ smiling faces!  Tomorrow we are encouraging MOVEMENT!  All of this @Home Learning is new and fun, but we need you to get up, get out of the house, and move those bodies to stay healthy!  Be sure to tag us and share with us #PampaProud  and #staywellTexas.

Workout Wednesday

Hang in there Pampa!  We will get through this!  Remember, we are beating this virus TOGETHER by staying APART---just for now.  We love you; we miss you, and are here to help you!

Blessings to you and yours,

Dr. Tanya Larkin, Superintendent
