PISD Health Update #10-Tuesday, March 24, 2020

Good Evening Pampa Families,

We hope this message finds you and your family well, healthy, and enjoying the beautiful weather.  We have been blessed with pretty days that allow our students and families to play outside and enjoy the fresh air.  Our staff has continued to work today on plans for remote learning, food and device distribution, and contacting our students and families.  We are also answering questions that our families have submitted at pampaisdinfo@pampaisd.net  Please keep those questions coming! They are helping us provide guidance to everyone.

We wanted to provide a few more updates to you along with some important reminders below…

Food and Device Distribution

We have shared and posted important information about device and/or food pick-up locations.  These sites will be primarily drive up/drive through---Chik-fil-a—style. J  However, if you need to walk up, that is fine too—we just ask that you be mindful of the traffic, social distancing and keep yourself and others safe.    Please follow the instructions of the traffic directors and those distributing.  We have a great plan, but there will be some snags, of course.  Thank you in advance for your grace and patience.  These will begin on Thursday, March 26th (click here for details)

Instructional Planning/Devices/Wifi

We are still developing plans to go “live” on Monday with Pampa ISD At Home Learning.  We will focus on connecting with our students, ensuring that all students can access their learning sites and in some cases, paper-based packets.  We know that devices and wifi are necessary for this to work.  As explained above, we will be distributing devices to those students who need one on Thursday and Friday.  WiFi is another issue.  Here are a couple of important updates for you on wifi access:

  • RESOUND Networks has been working with the City of Pampa, the Pampa ISD, and local business owners, and churches to set up free wifi access locations around our community. These will be functional by Monday, March 30th. The wifi locations were determined after the needs assessment survey of our students’ wifi needs. These wifi points are for the parking lots of the following businesses/locations:

    • Pampa ISD Administration Building parking lot
    • Pampa Junior High Parking Lot
    • Trinity Fellowship Church Parking Lot
    • City of Pampa Community Center (Old Armory) Parking Lot
    • Lamar Elementary Parking Lot

  • AT&T has notified us that they are not charging overage charges for current AT&T customers for using their data/hotspots during the COVID-19 crisis.More details are available on their website.AT&T Information

IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE A PHONE CALL FROM YOUR CHILD(REN)’S TEACHER----

Please email us at pampaisdinfo@pampaisd.net  Send us your child(ren)’s name, grade, teacher, and campus along with an updated telephone number and or email address.  We need to connect with you as soon as possible to ensure that your student continues learning and receives the services and materials needed to be successful.  If you cannot email us, please call us at 806-669-4700 between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm.

PHS CHOIR TRIP

PHS Choir Directors and Booster Club Board Members have investigated options for the May Branson Trip.  Unfortunately, it was in the best interest of student health and a prudent financial decision to cancel the trip this year.  Parents and students will be receiving detailed information soon on cash refunds and how their trip accounts will be handled.

If you have other needs or still have questions..

We are working on details for many other services and answering questions every day.  We continue to update our FAQs as we make adjustments.  Please visit the FAQ site HERE

We will continue to post daily updates Monday through Friday at 6:00 pm.  If you have questions that we have not answered or have other needs, please let us know by emailing us at pampaisdinfo@pampaisd.net  or calling us from 9:00 am-1:00 pm at 669-4700.

I have been viewing so many posts from our teachers and principals on social media.  We are missing the students so much!  Our buildings and classrooms were not meant to be silent---and one day soon--- they will be filled with laughter and the beautiful smiles of our students and staff.  But for now, we appreciate you doing your part to slow the spread of this virus.  #stayhomePampa!  Remember, we are here for you and we are all in this together!
